We start with a long block of uninterrupted free-play in the morning with a variety of intentionally selected activities and materials to support child-led exploration and learning. An optional snack time is provided. At least two days per week there is an optional short teacher-led cooking or gardening activity offered during free-play time. After cleaning up we enjoy lunch (brought from home) together. Following lunch is a fun, teacher-led, circle time including, for example, music, movement, stories, yoga, mindfulness, books, and puppet shows, thoughtfully designed with the unique interests and developmental needs of the individual children in the group. Then we finish the day with a group process-based art experience designed to foster creativity and the fine motor skills necessary for Kindergarten. Caregivers come during the final ten minutes to sing our closing song together to help the transition and to hear a bit about our day. The daily schedule is as follows:
9:30-11:30 – Greeting, then Free Play. Snack, and Cooking or Gardening Activity Optional
11:30-11:45 – Clean up
11:45 - 12:30 – Lunch (packed from home)
12:30-12:50 – Circle Time
12:50-1:15 – Art, then Free-Play
1:20-1:30 – Closing Circle with Parents/Caregivers
